Daily Reflections Earth Healing

Earth Healing
featuring Daily Reflections
by Al Fritsch, S.J.

                     A Thanksgiving Letter

The Thanksgiving season inspires us to remember those who give us support and attention throughout the year.  Yes, thanks for all you do for Earth Healing and the vision needed to save our wounded planet.  Environmental issues are somewhat displaced by Ebola and Isis but is really the most critical emerging issue.  This occurs at the time of media fatigue and deliberate denial of the overwhelming scientific evidence that the window is closing on curbing climate change advance.  Almost 400,000 of us marched in the People Climate March in September, a highly successful event that our Earth Healing organization helped sponsor.

During this year the Daily Reflections had a very high level of popularity with readers from over 110 countries.  This portion of our program is funded through our Kentucky Jesuit Missions and we have lined up a host of new topics for 2015 much of it dealing with the spirituality that must underlie our efforts to tackle the  threats to our planet.  More different texts and photos.

In mid-2014 we published GUNS: Giving Us Negative Security available through Brassica Books; this traces my evolving attitudes about private firearms and gun control.  Also during the year we launched a sequel to my 1974 book, The Contrasumers: A Citizens Guide to Resource Conservation, under the name Healing Earth, a draft of which we may have noted earlier this year.  This book traces my changing attitudes through four decades of environmental work -- much like our 2010 book, Tobacco Days.  Our long time and generous editor Angela Iadavaia-Cox has been delayed in assisting with it completion.  We will see the draft to completion in 2015.

Within the past year Warren Brunner and I had Appalachian Sensations: A Journey through the Seasons published.  Since You can't keep an old team down and, God willing, the two of us will complete in 2015 our most likely last work together, Appalachian Water Reflections.  These two are available through Amazon.com or through Warren's own marketing network.  Another work in the making is Jesus Christ Activist of which support for expenses appears forthcoming.  These works take much time and I am thankful for the healthy Indian Summer of life that allows for this vastly enjoyable work, but it comes at a cost.  I am truly grateful to all.

Again, we are most thankful for your past support and do hope you continue to see fit to help, since Earthhealing has a role to play during these critical times.  We simply would be unable to complete Earth Healing functioning without your financial support.  Donations are tax-exempt when made to "Kentucky Jesuit Missions."

                           Happy Thanksgiving,
                           Al Fritsch, SJ
